Harassed and Helpless

Like a leaderless nation,
On a journey without direction,
Found myself in a vacuum
Spinning out of control

Unaware of what's happened
I'm dazed and confused
Someone said its undeniable
But it just wont compute

Standing alone in the silence
Sickened by the darkness of man
Is there something to reach for
A way that life tomorrow can come

Its easier to prove the point and walk away
Its easier to stand and scorn and not to stay
Two places we could go, two paths ahead
Come inside and live or outside looking in

Here for the long haul
We can stand and fall
See myself in you
Convinced of what's true
We can talk it through

Things can change we have that much for sure
Find common ground on which we can stand
First impressions can mislead passionate fools
Seems we're not so different after all

With grace, with understanding
With love, with shared vision
With hope, with truth to share
With joy, with divine power

What could be so wrong, with receiving grace
What's so wrong, with saying you were wrong
You're standing near but your heart its far off
Yet you walk away bemoaning your loss

Everyone said you were well to do
What have you done with what you had?
Every good work, must have been you
Had a taste of forever but were you glad?

Who will He look upon?
Will you be humble and contrite?
Will you be ready to come?
Will you tremble at his word?

Don't stay on the outside looking in
Come in and enjoy life within
